Iran's National Security Panel (NSP), which reports to the Expediency Council, estimates that the government will run out of resources by next month, and that the regime will implode in 60-90 days.

The NSP has therefore asked the Expediency Council to enact emergency regulations allowing a peaceful transition by unseating the government immediately, with a referendum to be scheduled for early 2010.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei now understands that his days are counted. However, he and his advisers do not believe that following Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and his coalition’s lead would save him from prosecution and fall.

A plan of total police state using well known tactics against popular revolt, harsh repression and speedy prosecution of unwanted elements as well as assassinations has prevailed. This is based on the Revolutionary Guard's wish list and Khamenei's desperate situation.

It seems that Khamenei's panic and restlessness have driven him to consider insane measures. Unless voices at the Expediency Council moderate him, what he is planning for the nation and the region is a most horrifying nightmare.
