A year after entering the Swat Valley, Pakistan's army has begun to scale down its operations in the region. One of the big challenges they face now is to reintegrate some of the men, who were once considered the enemy, back into mainstream society. Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports from Swat Valley.

Reality has an anti-Israel bias

Israel's leading newspaper, Haaretz, calls a Canadian novel "anti-Israel" because it describes how IDF soldiers and Israeli settlers harass Palestinian farmers. The novel, "The Shepherd’s Granddaughter" by Canadian author Anne Laurel Carter, tells the tale of a Palestinian girl in the West Bank who wants to become a shepherd. She encounters violent Jewish settlers and Israeli soldiers, who poison her sheep, bulldoze her house, shoot and kill her dog, prevent her family from harvesting their olives, and beat and jail her father and uncle.
