That Was Reagan?
At a press conference, visibly embarrassed leaders of the Republican National Committee acknowledged that their nonstop, effusive praise of Ronald Reagan has been wholly unintentional, admitting they somehow managed to confuse him with Dwight Eisenhower for years. The GOP's humiliating blunder was discovered last weekend by RNC chairman Reince Priebus, who realized his party had been extolling "completely the wrong guy" after he watched the History Channel special Eisenhower: An American Portrait. "Wait, you're telling me Reagan advocated that trickle-down nonsense that was debunked years ago? That was Reagan?" Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said upon hearing of the mistake. "I can't believe I've been calling for a return to Reagan's America. I feel like an asshole."

Consensus We Can Believe In
In his latest effort to find common ground with Republicans in Congress, President Barack Obama said today that he was willing to agree that he is a Muslim, Borowitz Report reports from Washington. Differences over his religious orientation have been a sore point between the President and his Republican foes for the past two years, but in agreeing that he is a Muslim Mr Obama is sending a clear signal that he is trying to find consensus. "The American people do not want to see us fighting in Washington," Mr Obama told reporters at the White House. "They want to see us working together to improve their lives, and Allah willing, we will." http://www.borowitzreport.com/2010/12/07/in-latest-compromise-with-gop-obama-agrees-he-is-a-muslim/
Obama Will Be Re-elected
Settle down everyone. Last night just proved two things: 1) Obama *will* be re-elected, and 2) it is just going to take a lot of midgets. Look, we are living the Star Wars trilogy right now. In 2008, we had "A New Hope." In 2010, the Empire struck back. Which just means that in 2012, we are going to see the Return of the Jedi, which is awesome, but it also means we are going to be knee-deep in Ewoks by the Iowa caucuses.

California Trend: Feed the Rich
California GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, billionaire, has two basic economic plans for California: lay off 40,000 state employees, which would increase the unemployment rate, and eliminate the capital gains tax, whis is paid largely by wealthy people, by the investor class. She has also attacked unions and public-sector employees in a way that is really profound and has become one of those California trends we are going to see spreading across the country. What she has basically said is: the problem with California is unionized public-sector workers and teachers. She actually came out and said that.

Banana Republicans
How did we get to the point where one of our two major political parties is not even trying to make sense? One of America’s two great political parties routinely makes nonsensical promises. Never mind the war on terror, the party’s main concern seems to be the war on arithmetic. And this party has a better than even chance of retaking at least one house of Congress this November. Banana republic, here we come.
Rove Rolls Again
Bush strategist Karl Rove is secretly seizing control of the GOP and amassing $135 million to destroy the Democrats. The linchpin of Rove's coup is American Crossroads -- a shadow version of the RNC for the party's richest donors. The group wants to become a fixture in GOP politics: "The idea is that there needs to be an institutional entity that will be there every cycle." The strategic logic is simple: American Crossroads will be where the real money goes to "play." "This is the plutocratic wing of the GOP getting together and deciding that, in the era of unlimited corporate contributions, they don't need a formal Republican Party anymore," says a top Democrat. "It's all about the accumulation of power."
