Thousands searched illegally in Britain

Thousands of people across the UK might have been stopped and searched illegally, figures released by the Home Office suggest. Powers under section 44 of the Terrorism Act were used in "error" after the proper authorisations were not given. Section 44 allows police to stop and search someone without suspicion that an offence has occurred. Critics say the rules unfairly target some ethnic groups and increase community tensions.

Parrots in Parliament: Politicians Jump on Terrorist Bandwagon

Maryam Rajavi, one of the leaders of the Iranian terrorist organisation, People's Mujahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI), was on a visit to Finland on 11-12 March 2010. Ms Rajavi met with many Finnish politicians, public officials, church leaders, and other public figures.

I wrote several letters to MPs, ministers, and officials urging them to reject any contact with Ms Rajavi and her representatives. Some of the responses I got were less than satisfactory, while others served as evidence of the sane judgment of many of our elected representatives.

Obama's War on Yemen

Besides waging direct or proxy wars against elusive enemies on multiple fronts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, the Philippines, and Sudan, Yemen is now a new front in America's "war on terror" under a president, who as a candidate, promised diplomacy, not conflict, if elected.

The claim that Western embassy staff are being withdrawn from Yemen because of an alleged threat of a terrorist attack is utter rubbish. The embassies are being evacuated ahead of a major strike against Yemen's anti-government rebels by the US and its ally, the authoritarian government in Sana'a.

Iranian HR defenders may face terror charges

Iran's Committee of Human Rights Reporters (CHRR) has faced unprecedented pressure in recent months. Many of its members have been threatened and arrested. Authorities have demanded that CHRR shut down its website.

The authorities are trying to force CHRR members to confess to having cooperated with the terrorist organization, People's Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK/MKO). The United States and Canada have designated PMOI as a terrorist organization.

CHRR is an independent organization that reports about human rights violations in Iran. The organization has been reporting about violations of the rights of political prisoners, children, women, students, and other members of society.
