The "elevator music industry" has long since resorted to marketing hot new bands to make your favorite mall's corporate image better. The company I worked for, whom you have never heard of, was --as of 2007-- on track to being one of the top five media companies in the world by 2011. "Elevator music" is actually the mad genius of one man: Percy Faith. He became a rich man by sucking the "rock" out of "rock and roll" for a generation of consumers who were threatened by unmuted brass and electric guitars but still enjoyed melody. And what he did was pure genius.
